The staff was extremely helpful and attentive - I would come there again. Everything was lovely, lovely location next to apart from other hotels, a bus stop and public transport or the hotel's own free shuttle service, thoroughly enjoyable experience. My room was a nice size and brand-new and featured fantastic view over the bay. Good and fab cereal and eggs, enjoyed this place.

The breakfast was delicious and satisfactory exactly as I hoped, with an amazing view and fresh fruit, for instance. Right at a bus stop, the location was incredible and good, on the magical island of Madeira.

Good hotel with amenities like free wi-fi, a great pool, and a fantastic restaurant. During my first stay, the staff offered a late check-out, which I remember fondly. I recommend enjoying the good gardens. I'm coming back for Christmas!

Street a bit dangerous for pedestrians, no hiking from hotel, you should have a rental car

The hotel is a fantastic spot, just a short walk from the fine Monte Palace Tropical Garden and the historical St Tiago Fort. I felt at home as I strolled through the charming streets of Funchal and soaked up the beautiful park views around me.

The Breakfast could have been better, eggs were cooked and left out for far too long.

Family getaway with amazing views

The room we had was clean, with a balcony that overlooked the ocean , it was very nice. The staff were really friendly, especially at breakfast.

It wasn't exactly cheap , but for the views and service, it made sense.

The view was amazing, the hotel was very well furnished, and extremely well maintained, the staff were so friendly and obliging, this is our second time there and we would recommend it to anyone.

A suggestion to the hotel would be to install a good powered telescope or have some good powered binoculars, to take in the view and also for any marine life that is at sea. My husband went on a whale watching trip and saw lots of pilot whales, which would be visible from the hotel if a telescope or binoculars were available.

I liked this hotel very much. The room was very nice and had a lovely balcony overlooking the sea. I booked 6 hotels on Madeira on Booked.net for my fortnight there and this hotel had the most comfortable bed! The receptionist on arrival was particularly friendly. The hotel was very well connected to central Funchal by local buses. I would not hesitate to return to Ocean Gardens.

our recent stay in funchal was made even more memorable by the stunning views and excellent staff at ocean gardens. the hotel was beautiful, very clean, and the breakfast buffet was impressive. the convenient bus service made it easy to explore the island. we wished we could have stayed longer!
